UX Case Study

SimpleCoin

SimpleCoin - Lightning Network Wallet dashboard UI

Wallet for lightning-fast micropayments.

SimpleCoin’s mission is to make Bitcoin payments simpler, faster, and cheaper. The product team’s job is to make the product intuitive and habit-forming.
Our aim is to create applications that are both elegant and user-friendly, providing our users with a seamless, frictionless, and fully integrated Lightning experience.
While the technology is still under development, our product team is working hard on the user-facing side of things. This includes all design, content creation, marketing, and front-end development.

Product Creation Process

Each product, project, and feature is created using this ideation framework. Depending on the scale of the task - the time unit might be a day, a week, or a month.

Product challenges

Challenge 1
V1 vs. V2 Target Audience

  • The target audience is familiar with technology and has strong bitcoin knowledge (Demanding/viligent audience)

  • Security and privacy-conscious

  • V1 audience differs from our future target audience

Challenge 2
Technology

  • As the backend technology is still being developed, there are a lot of questions with no answers at this point

  • Legacy technologies prevent us from using common design patterns most users are accustomed to. e.g. bank account transfers. Whereas Lightning Network uses an invoice first approach.

Challenge 3
Login Credentials & Security

  • Using emails and passwords to log in (with optional biometrics)

  • 24-word recovery seed phrase vs a multilayered approach

  • Should we use a new account security framework or the legacy recovery phrase option, which leaves security fully in the hands of each user
